U.S. White House Cybersecurity Coordinator Howard Schmidt to Keynote at South Sound Technology Conference 2012

Anyone interested in solving problems with technology solutions, building a technology company or networking with others in the industry will want to attend this year’s South Sound Technology Conference, featuring the U.S. Cyber Czar, Howard Schmidt.

Howard Schmidt, President Obama’s choice to be the White House Cybersecurity Coordinator will be delivering this year’s lunch time address. Howard has the important responsibility of orchestrating the many important cybersecurity activities across the government. He is one of the world’s leading authorities on computer security, with some 40 years of experience in government, business and law enforcement. He serves as a key member of the President’s National Security Staff and works closely with his economic team to ensure that our cybersecurity efforts keep the Nation secure and prosperous.

The 12th annual South Sound Technology Conference, is the premiere technology showcase for the Tacoma and the South Puget Sound region. On Friday March 9th in William W. Phillip Hall on the University of Washington Tacoma campus civic and industry leaders, government representatives, university faculty and students will come together the South Sounds largest technology conference to hear speakers on a multitude of topics:

Companies will talk about problems they would love a smaller technology company to solve for them; user groups and technology organizations will introduce themselves and showcase their interests; a discussion of the mobile applications explosion are just some of the topics.

The South Sound Technology Conference, www.sstconference.org provides a forum that increases the awareness of technology as it impacts our daily personal and professional lives, and even more importantly, the role it can play in the development of our regional economy. The conference charter is to further the continuous growth of technology in the South Sound region and provide information about global technology issues.

Steve Jarvis, Vice President of Product Operations for Expedia will be keynoting the morning address and discuss the impact of mobile application development and travel.

The afternoon panel will feature representatives and officers from the area that represent small and large special interest groups who meet to discuss topics as broad as the impact of social media, targeted areas of technology such as data integrity and information assurance, or even something as specific as SQL databases. Breakouts will include discussion of how to build solutions, networking with others interested in your area of interest and the upcoming South Sound Entrepreneurs’ Weekend. Attendees will also give attendees the opportunity to view student research projects at the Institute of Technology.
